Lightscale Reflex is a servo saver which uses a brand new and unique system to protect your steering servo from gear damage. Its` ingenious system combines 100% precise transmission of the pilots `commands together with 100% protection of the servos `gear

Even though the servo saver plays a protecting part in a large scale car, it has not been well focused on by the large scale manufacturers even though the rapid increase in large scale speed has made a new concept necessary.

Current Servo Savers trade safety of the servos gearing at a cost of precise steering reaction by using soft springs or o-rings. Thereby proportional to the springs` and o-rings` stiffness the risk of a damaged gear rises, whilst softer adjustments lead to imprecise and lagged steering characteristics. As the Grip from the track surface and tyres rises this problem gets worse and worse.

How does the Lightscale Reflex Servo Saver work ?

Basically the Reflex looks just like a nicely made standard Servo Saver which does not provide any special features, especially as it uses the common know return spring.
But the real functional characteristics are to be found inside. First you will find it double ball bearing to make sure quick, precise and power saving movements.

But the real cleverness is it?s system based on a combination of balls, compression springs and a three hole plate. These features together connect the two interface parts (one to the servo and the other one to the steering arms). Thereby the pressure of the compression spring prevents both interface parts from twisting to each other and in doing so guarantees 100% precise and free of play steering while driving the car. In the event of external forces such as kerbs, a jump, crash or the tyres, the Reflex Servo Save compression spring will be compressed and immediately allow an almost free of power twisting of both interface parts. The twisting can be more than 100 degrees which may never be reached in reality but is possible to be done mechanically.
The force that is necessary to make the Reflex work is pre adjusted, but may be either reduced or increased by the customer to his personal taste or necessity. 
The visible return spring just serves the purpose to prevent the Reflex from exorbitant twisting and to bring it back to zero position after saving your servos? gear.

Does the Lightscale Reflex fit into my car ?.

The Reflex Servo Saver is available in 4 versions which are FG universal, H.A.R.M., RS-5 Touring Car and RS-5 Formula 1.

Thereby the Reflex comes with all the original pivot points for the track rods and the ride height. You will not need do adjust your geometry nor need any other parts to make it fit to your car.
The different Version of the Reflex are compatible with each other, so once you may change your brand of car, you can continue to use your Reflex Servo Saver by just changing the Interface part connecting the steering rods. This system allows any changes done by the manufacturers will be possible to be reflected with the Lightscale Reflex as well and versions for other brands of cars .like Contrast or X1 will be possible in the near future.


Why would I need a Lightscale Reflex Servo Saver ?

Increasing Corner Speeds of large scale cars cumulative cause problems to find suitable steering servos.
Whilst one camp swears on 2 small servos others prefer the use of one big sized servo. Both of them combine advantages with disadvantages.

Without any doubt the big sized Servos use the stronger gears but even those one are not free of failures. However there is not a single big sized servo available in the market that combines the necessary speed and precision to satisfy large scales` needs.
Small servos provide this speed and precision and since years have enough power to be used even as a single steering servo, but being in use with a standard servo saver they invariably fail.


In summary the Lightscale Reflex enables you to use a single small steering servo such as Futaba, JR or Hi-Tec and by doing so take benefits from quick and precise steering without suffering from the risk of a gear failure caused by a poor working servo saver.
Your financial budget will benefit whilst you will only need one small servo instead of two. This will as well reduce the weight of your car and save power from the receiver battery.

Thereby the Lightscale Reflex itself is a lightweight part as it reaches just a bit more than 50g of weight.

Using the Lightscale Reflex, drivability is also improved when a big size servo is in use as there is no imprecise and unforeseeable behavior of a poor servo saver added to the imprecise working of the servo itself.

The Lightscale Reflex only twists when necessary and transports the pilots commands steadily and precisely from the servo to the front tyres. Doing so it saves your reactions and if necessary and mostly unnoticed the gear of your steering servo.

Is the Lightscale Reflex well engineered ?

Ahead the commercial launch the Lightscale Reflex has been tested back to back for a period of 3 years.


- The Lightscale Reflex Servo Saver comes pre adjusted to a torque of 30 kg. No adjustment shoult be necessary but in case you like to finetune the preload to your personal taste it is possible by moving the nut with item code 50011100 wich you find in the drawing. Please finetune the Reflex in smal steps like 1/16 to 1/8 turn.

- Please check end point adjustment of your steering servo after installing the Reflex Servo Saver. You will find the possibility to do so with Futaba Radios 3PK, 3VC and 4PK in the menu named "EPA"
